ABOUT OUR COMPANY:

Defender Resorts, Inc. has been providing quality management service to the timeshare/vacation ownership industry for over 30 years. We are currently managing 16 resorts with offices in five states. Our corporate headquarters is located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Defender Resorts specializes in customized management services utilizing experienced personnel and finely tuned systems, which provide a significant foundation for analyzing existing operations and a formula for excellence. We have vast experience in areas of owner databases, owner communications, refurbishment and renovation, budgeting and long-term planning, quality controls, financial reporting and analysis, and most importantly, human resources management.

We are prepared to provide the tools to the Board of Directors to make the decisions necessary to improve upon the vacation experience for all owners and we welcome the opportunity to implement those policies.

Defender Resorts, Inc. began in 1978 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Defender Industries of Columbia, South Carolina. In 1988 Defender Industries' successor sold its interest in both Defender Services and Defender Resorts to the managing employees of each respective company. Ken McKelvey, currently Chairman and CEO, became a principle Stockholder and President of Defender Resorts.  In 1989, both Mark Westbrook, currently President and COO, and Frank Baker, currently Executive Vice-President,  joined the company and subsequently became stockholders in Defender Resorts, Inc.

The company and Mr. McKelvey were instrumental in the development, sales and marketing of:

The Beach House Golf & Racquet Club, completed in 1982.
The Links Golf & Racquet Club, completed in 1983.
Ocean Villas Resort, completed in 1985.
Atalaya Towers Resort, completed in 1986.

These entities began the full-service management of interval ownership resorts by Defender.

Defender presently manages timeshare resorts in Myrtle Beach & North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Ocean City, Maryland; Dewey Beach, Delaware; and  Lenox, Massachusetts.

Financial
Sound financial systems are critical to successful enterprise. We believe that the foundation of meaningful and detailed historical information provides the building blocks for understanding, controlling and planning the operations of the resort. This groundwork is built on a daily basis, incorporation checks and balances to ensure the accuracy and accountability of the operation at the resort and continuing to the reporting and analysis prepared at our central office. We strive to provide as much information as possible for the Board of Director to use for making the most informed decisions for the success of the resort.
We know that tracking the past results gives us the best indicator of future needs. Forecasting the current year and budgeting future years are essential to the financial position of the resort. We have extensive experience in preparing the meticulous analysis used in planning and tracking large capital projects.

Rental Management & Advertising
Our rental management and marketing programs are dedicated to planning a vacation experience that satisfies the guest, the owner and the Homeowner's Association. We create advertising and marketing plans for each property to effectively reach the most widespread avenues. The golf, vacation, travel agent, group tours, corporate and exchange markets all receive individual attention in our advertising plans. At Defender Resorts we go to great lengths to create new business and we also go the extra mile to make our guests want to return time and time again.

Training
The secret to success is "leadership and training", the drive to create that special spark of enthusiasm in staff and management and realize that each is they are a personal representative of our owners and guests. All of our staff are equally important to the success of the company and undergo periodic training and educational classes, with emphasis on service skills. We encourage our employees to find a "better way" to accomplish our ultimate goal - to satisfy customers. The combination of leadership, training, and management attitude really makes this goal possible and sets Defender Resorts apart from its competition.

Resales
Defender Realty, Inc. began as a subsidiary of Defender Resorts, Inc. in 1990 in response to owner complaints about resale companies that require advance money to sell their vacation weeks. We provide timeshare owners a resale program with no "upfront" fee of any kind. Since inception, Defender Realty, Inc. has become a recognized leader in the vacation industry and resale marketplace. We have established ourselves in South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland and Tennessee. All of our sales associates are licensed real estate professionals with years of experience in the timeshare industry.
Defender Realty, Inc. also offers a variety of programs to stimulate sales such as merchant discounts, golf discounts and the Defender Flex(r) program. Defender's referral program rewards owners with free gifts and cash prizes for referring their friends or family, who become our next owners.

Defender Resorts is continually seeking out and evaluating potential enhancements to resorts that meet the changing interests of timeshare owners and guests. Over the past two decades, our company has assembled a talented team of resale management, rental specialists, architects, interior designers and landscape architects, who are at the cutting edge of resort management and evolving customer needs. We have embraced the Internet technology by creating websites for Defender Resorts, Inc. and each resort to provide information to owners, renters and buyers including resort photographs, floor plans with lists of amenities and newsletters.
